Numerical Simulation of Welding Temperature Field, Stress Field, and Strain Field of Fillet Joint in Different Welding Sequence

Abstract For welding temperature field, stress and strain field in fillet joints, using the double ellipsoid heat source, ABAQUS software platform is used to simulate analyze process of joints with four different application sequences. By setting up observation points, study analyzed distribution simulated for these cases. The results show that vertical weld direction, sequence has a large effect on transverse residual stress; use isotropic welding, butt first then welded program, maximum total deformation angular produced are smallest.
